{"id":200799,"date":"2013-12-13T14:58:45","date_gmt":"2013-12-13T13:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nenasilje.org\/?p=200799"},"modified":"2022-11-18T11:21:35","modified_gmt":"2022-11-18T10:21:35","slug":"four-candles-a-letter-from-kenya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nenasilje.org\/en\/four-candles-a-letter-from-kenya\/","title":{"rendered":"Four candles &#8211; A letter from Kenya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>4 candles burn, the ambience so soft one can almost hear them talking;<\/p>\n<p>The first said \u201c I am <strong>peace<\/strong>\u2026the world is full of anger and fighting. Nobody can keep me lit\u201d Then the flame of peace went out.<\/p>\n<p>The second said \u201cI am <strong>faith<\/strong>\u2026I am no longer indispensable. It doesn\u2019t make sense that I stay lit any longer\u201d. Just then a breeze blew out faiths flame.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, the third candle said \u201cI am l<strong>ove<\/strong>\u2026people don\u2019t understand my importance so they simply put me aside. They even forget to love those who are closest to them.\u201d And waiting no longer the third candle went off.<\/p>\n<p>Then a child walked into the room and saw the unlit candles\u00a0 \u201cwhy are you not lit? You must remain lit to the end\u201d and the child begun to cry.<\/p>\n<p>Just then the fourth candle spoke \u201cdon\u2019t be afraid. I am <strong>hope<\/strong> and when I am still burning we can light the other candles. With shining eyes the child took the hope candle and lit the other candles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The greatest of these is love, but the flame of hope should never go out. With hope each of us can live with peace, faith and love.<\/p>\n<p>Madiba\u2019s life and his memory as we saw it live just recently offers that hope.
