I’m sure you’ve heard that all roads lead to Rome. From a different perspective, however, the kind that should be taken for many topics when it comes to Balkan politics, all roads lead to peace.
I had the opportunity to work on myself through work with others, exchanging experience, values and ideas, comparing history textbooks, but also through conflict over fundamental disagreements and by practising constructive dialogue. We viewed other people’s experiences through the prism of our own and found that we were more alike than we thought.
The purpose of the training was to contribute to change at the personal and social level and to good neighbourly relations. In that respect, this training was a resounding success.
A path to peace was cut with the footsteps of 18 peace activists from the former Yugoslavia who in addition to being fellow fighters became friends along the way.
CNA tuned our inner compass and pointed us in the only direction to peace – towards each other.
This training had just one downside.
It set the bar unrealistically high for all others!
