Centre for nonviolent action
Members of the Centre for Nonviolent Action Sarajevo-Belgrade attended the commemoration for people killed in Skelani, a local community within the Srebrenica Municipality. In Skelani and other surrounding villages, 34 Serb civilians and 35 members of the Republika Srpska Army were killed on 16 January 1993.
Our 17th action of marking unmarked sites of suffering is complete. In this action, we visited unmarked sites of suffering in the area of Trnovo, Mount Igman and Bugojno
Will there be war again? For the past two months, this is the question on everyone’s lips in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was 29 years ago, as the Serb military and paramilitary forces were retreating from Mostar, that 114 Bosniak and Croat civilians were taken from their homes and killed at two locations near Mostar – Uborak and Sutina
According to the memories of the survivors, the 15 of them were outside that day, 10 June 1993, in the Podgradina neighbourhood when around 8:45 pm a shell interrupted their play. Five children were killed instantly, three died in hospital, and six were wounded.
This time, we visited local communities in eastern Herzegovina and marked sites of detention, killing, abuse and suffering from the past war.
On 30 April, wreaths were brought to the bridge and roses were cast into the Sava river to commemorate the victims and call for finding their remains and prosecuting those responsible.
This time we continued our marking activities in Doboj and in the Posavina Canton, in Orašje and Odžak
In this period, we visited Livno, Ljubuški and Čapljina
In the 13th action, eight sites were marked in the area of Livno, Ljubuški and Čapljina.
The peace initiative Marking Unmarked Sites of Suffering (ONMS) and the Centre for Nonviolent Action Sarajevo-Belgrade presented their activities and website with documentation on actions to mark unmarked sites of suffering related to the 1992-1995 war in BiH.
In our seventh action of marking unmarked sites of suffering, we marked sites of suffering in Vareš, Jajce, Prijedor and at Korićanske stijene.

The photo exhibition, that accompanies the research of the same title ”On the Trail of the Danube Swabians in Vojvodina ˮ, will open on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at 7 P.M., at the Parobrod Cultural Centre in Belgrade, 6a Kapetan-Mišina Str.
Four activists from Bosnia and Herzegovina have been conducting an unofficial campaign to place temporary memorial signs at sites where people suffered during wartime but where no permanent monument exists.
