Marked sites of Suffering in Doboj, Odžak and Orašje: “Solidarity with the victims and their families”
Five sites were marked as part of the fifteenth action to mark unmarked sites of suffering, carried out from 1 to 3 March 2021 in the area of Doboj, Odžak and Orašje.
Fourteenth action: Down the River Bosna
This action brings us to 106 sites we’ve marked that are still without a dignified memorial commemorating what happened there.
Response to “The Past Can’t Heal Us”
I was excited at reading the title of Lea David’s book—The Past Can’t Heal Us. I thought we would finally have some useful research that would free us of the ballast of having to sift through the past and would reveal a new way forward, so I waited for the book with anticipation. It turned out my expectations were completely wrong. To put it mildly, I was shocked.

Four detention sites for Bosniaks of Žepče, the Iron Bridge in Doboj where 11 civilians were killed and the Zenica Penitentiary as the site of detention of civilians and soldiers were marked as sites of suffering.

Marked Sites of Suffering in Zvornik, Tuzla and Srebrenik: Fighting for the Right to Be Remembered
Five sites were marked: Brčanska Malta in Tuzla, the Youth Centre and football club premises in Rapatnica near Srebrenik, the youth centres in Drinjača and Čelopek and “Rašidov han” in Snagovo near Zvornik.
